Just a reminder for any members that are interested – Giant Kendal Bike Shop are organising a 100km and 50km sportive starting and finishing at Lowther Castle near Penrith and are hoping to get local bike clubs involved. The Cyclone Festival of Cycling was created in 2007 to encourage as many people as possible to get out on their bikes, get fitter and enjoy the countryside. It is a multi faceted event designed to cater for the needs of competitive and none competitive cyclists. There are events to meet the needs of all who wish to compete or just ride for pleasure as well as allowing spectators to see some of the best riders in the World in action. Events include the UK National Time Trial Championships, Tyne 6 Bridges Leisure Rides (two rides of 10.5mls and 15.5mls), Cyclone Challenge Rides (Four routes – 34, 64, 90 or 106 miles) and the UK National Road Championships. Cross Border Sportive on Sunday 02 September is perfect for the first timer and experienced cyclist alike. Tackle the chip-timed routes to test your fitness on the quiet roads spanning the border of England and Scotland. There are three routes; a 30 miler called ‘The Recce’, a 50 miler called ‘The Raid’ and an epic 80 miler called ‘The Invasion’ for the more adventurous!
